Frequently Asked Questions
For My PatientsCommon Questions About Our Services
Discover answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our nursing practice. We aim to provide clarity and peace of mind to all our patients.
What conditions can you help?
Patients have come with a broad range of labels, and ages. Chronic pain. Acute pain. Post-surgery. Osteoarthritis. Fibromyalgia Migraine and other headaches. Stress-related disorders. Cerebral Palsy. Back pain and dysfunction. Neck pain and dysfunction. Cancer pain. Spinal stenosis. Neuropathic pain. Sacroiliitis. Preventative care, and the list goes on. There is no particular disorder that the treatments heal or cure. However, with the utmost confidence it can be said that patients with a wide array of conditions have returned to a higher quality of life and health. Also, many post-operative patients have experienced accelerated recuperation from the manual and mind-body therapies. The only way to know the extent to which treatment will be effective is to schedule an appointment for an evaluation.
How long will it take until I feel better?
The length of the therapy is dependent upon the severity and chronicity of your condition and your specific goals for rehabilitation.
Why do you often treat the whole body even if the problem is just in one location?
Because of the anatomical interconnection of the fascial and cranial systems. The restrictions and interferences are not generally as localized as the problem. A restriction from a distant region can travel along the fascial connections contributing to the problem. Also, an injury in one location can travel into other regions of the body that can interfere with the complete healing process. A whole person approach is utilized unless otherwise determined by the patient and nurse.
Do you accept credit card payments?
We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express, and Debit cards for payments. In addition, cash, checks, and money orders are welcome.
Do I need a physician referral?
No. However, you will need a physician’s prescription if this is being billed to an insurance company for a motor vehicle accident or workman’s compensation. Some Flexible spending accounts require a physician’s prescription. It is your responsibility to check with your FSA carrier. Also, if you are submitting expenses as a medical tax deduction a physician prescription is required.
What do I wear for a session?
Whatever you are comfortable wearing. Patients are always offered a gown. Occasionally, a patient chooses to stay fully clothed, however this is not typical.
What if I receive Chiropractic care, Physical Therapy, Osteopathic care, Acupuncture, Pain Injections, etc.?
You may continue other treatments. It is recommended that you sign a HIPAA form giving your clinician permission to collaborate treatment if necessary. Communication between your health care team can enhance your outcome.
What if I have chemical sensitivities?
Your clinician never wears anything scented. The linens are washed in unscented detergent. Disposable linens are available. The use of unscented lotion or oil is offered. It is recommended that patients wear nothing scented, however we cannot be responsible for this
What is Cold Laser Therapy?
The term Cold Laser refers to the use of low-intensity or low levels of laser light. Researchers believe Cold Laser Therapy works by activating cells to better respond to injury and stress. The damaged cells stimulated by the laser might produce more proteins and anti-inflammatory chemicals to promote healing. At this time, no research studies have shown any serious side effects when administered properly. Pregnant women should not receive this due to unknown risks in unborn children and children should not have cold laser near the ends of growing bones.
Testimonials About Deb
From My Patients“In 2002 I had an accident which shattered my Acetabulum (Pelvis). I was bed bound for 10 weeks and then began recovery. I utilized the services of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s Wellesley facility. A clinician there strongly recommended manual therapies which led me to Debra Brothers-Klezmer. The Spaulding Rehab work combined with the pain management and healing work with Debra escalated the healing process. The multi-surgeon surgery I had required all but one of my nerves to be severed on my left side. The efforts of Debra with muscular and nerve healing as well as scar tissue break-up and prevention were instrumental in my ability to walk normally again with full function. The diversity of trainings combined with the intuitive skills and experience allow Debra to create powerful and unique healing. I gladly and whole heartedly recommend Debra’s services to anyone regardless of the severity or complexity of their condition.”
Robert Nagle
“I am an occupational health nurse case manager. I have known Deb for 15 years, as a friend, co-worker and a patient. Due to a severe motor vehicle accident, where I had to be removed from the vehicle with the jaws of life, I lost my activities of daily living. I was unable to drive, work, sleep in a bed, or care for myself. My PCP prescribed medications and manual therapies. As her patient, I saw Deb in her best element, that of an expert in knowing how to fix a broken spirit and body. After 3 months of therapy, I returned to my normal life activities. Being in the medical profession, I realize that complete rehabilitation means NOT needing rehabilitation.”
Roberta O’Connor
“I have had the pleasure of knowing and being a patient of Debra Brothers-Klezmer for many years. She is a kind and caring healer, whose wonderful spirit and skill has helped not only myself, but also my disabled husband and continues to treat our autistic son.
Prior to two separate partial knee replacements, I saw Debra to help Prepare for Surgery. She worked with me utilizing mind-body therapies taught by Peggy Huddleston. As a result, I went into surgery in good spirits, healed quickly and well; and, have continued to benefit from her skill and dedication. In addition, Debra recommended a highly skilled surgeon for the operations, who turned out to be an excellent choice. I would recommend her to anyone.”
Brenda Marchand
“I have been a grateful patient of Deb Klezmer’s for seven years. I started with Craniosacral Therapy which has been very successful. I have gone on to incorporate medical massage and myofascial release for arthritis of my hip, fascia problems, scar tissue from surgery, and knots in my back and shoulders. Deb keeps up on the latest methodologies and is extremely gifted as a pain clinician. In addition, Deb has been very helpful with recommendations of extremely qualified health care providers. I have recommended Deb to many people who have also found her caring style and treatment methods very helpful.”
Lee Murphy
“I had a fantastic result from a single session with Deb. I recently had a problem with tennis elbow. I spent several weeks in PT at one of Boston’s leading hospitals with minimal results. At a later date I went to DBK with the same complaint. The end result was after one visit , I left with no symptoms, and have yet to experience them again. You also continue to work your magic on my arthritis. I am in your debt for my current abilities.”
Barry Maguire
“I have been a patient of Debbie for three years. My initial visits were for a torn tendon in the right ankle that was not healing well. As that got better with every visit, I also had Deb work on problems with a sore thumb, TMJ problems and soreness in my hips and neck areas. I have appreciated her knowledge of my problems and her approach to helping me feel better.”
Marion Nelson
“Back, neck, and general muscle pain, stress, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, these are all things that I have taken control of in my life through my bi-monthly visits to DBK Nursing Rehabilitation. Deb has an amazing gift of touch, backed by her extensive education, training and certifications. The atmosphere is relaxed, peaceful, comfortable, and my visits are definitely a highlight of my week that I truly look forward to.”
